چکیده

Background and Purpose: Soft drinks are commonly consumed globally. Due to high demand, regulatory protocols may be breached thereby leading contamination with heavy metals. In this study, we determined the content of five metals in some Nigerian soft estimated their potential health risks.
Methods: Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) was used determine concentrations magnesium, aluminum, lead, arsenic, zinc. Twelve (12) (labeled B1–B12) were used. After AAS, parameters such as target quotient (THQ), average daily intake (EDI), chronic (CDI) evaluated.
Results: The level arsenic found all ranged from 0.001-0.0603 mg/L, against 0.01 mg/L maximum contaminant (MCL) standard. Lead 0.001-0.023mg/L (MCL is mg/L) within MCL except one sample (0.023 mg/L). Aluminum levels 0.001-2.0491 (0.001 WHO limit 0.02 mg/L. concentration range for magnesium 0.6954-2.4341 versus standard THQ values aluminum significantly different other order abundance was: Mg > Zn Al Pb As. Arsenic lead relatively small compared value most samples higher than normal.
Conclusion: above acceptable limits drinks. All metals, limits. underscores need quality control measures during production.

Assessment of Heavy Metals in Road Dust of Behbahan City, Iran: Distribution, Sources and Health Risks

Introduction: Road dust is a group of solid particles that are presented in the urban areas and are originated from both natural and human-induced sources. This study aims to determine concentrations of heavy metals in urban dusts in Behbahan to identify their natural or anthropogenic sources. Materials and Methods: In this study, a total of 20 samples were collected from main roads with diffe...

Extraction and Determination of Heavy Metals Using Silver Coated Magnetic Nanoparticles and Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

A rapid, simple and sensitive magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) method was developed for the pre-concentration and determination of copper and cadmium ions. In this study, modified Fe3O4@Ag nanoparticles were synthesized and then ligand 2-isonicotinoyl hydrazine carbodithiolate (ITHCDT) was bonded to silver due to the formation of covalent bond of S-Ag. In this method, copper and cadmium i...

1 Atomic Absorption Spectrometry ( AAS )

Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) is a technique for measuring quantities of chemical elements present in environmental samples by measuring the absorbed radiation by the chemical element of interest. This is done by reading the spectra produced when the sample is excited by radiation. The atoms absorb ultraviolet or visible light and make transitions to higher energy levels. Atomic absorpti...
